A point-to-point, net-downhill marathon that traces an historic route used by the gold miners during the 1849 Gold Rush, it begins at the Folsom Dam, passes through semi-rural suburbs into bustling midtown Sacramento, and has a spectacular finish in front of the California State Capitol.

Notes: I succumbed to the frigid cold weather...could not breathe well and my muscles were not relaxed...had to stop at port-o-potty twice during race, probably due to my fatal error...roaming the frigid streets of Sacramento on Saturday night looking for a place to eat...DID NOT plan this trip well at all, plus all my training took place in the warm weather. This marathon was the most stressful event I ran all year!!! Even the Headlands 100M race proved to be a better experience for me!!!
