I did not run for the two weeks prior to today's California International Marathon, and I paid for it.
My pace slowed over the course of the race, and I am more sore after this race than my 50 miler in October.
Further, my running ap freaked out and recorded this marathon as 1.69 miles.😕
That said I am happy with my time of 4:14:08, and did enjoy this race quite a bit.
There are no big hills at CIM, but lots of small rollers that keep it interesting. The course is well marked and marshaled. The aid stations are more than plentiful and there are massive amounts of cheering locals, friends and family along the course.
Weather was perfect today, but has been a real issue the past two years, with torrential rains and high winds in 2012, and a starting temp in the low 20s in 2013.
I'm just starting to build my race schedule for next year, but the CIM might just be included.
