The 10 yr old jackrabbit that came in the chute just in front of me started half way between me and the start line, as did some double-wides and others. Despite that I started behind a number of front markers that did not have the pace, the course thinned out fairly quickly and the poor corral hygiene was a minimal factor. My Polar came out exactly 3.1 for 27:11, apparently documenting my apex prowess or confirming that my variance is proportional to the mis-calibration of my watch. About half way, I was feeling a smooth stride more like the good days last year."
