Fitness Statement | I raced competitively during my late 30s thru mid 40s. I still go to races to reach goals I have set for myself. I am an identical triplet and running is something we all enjoy doing. I have trained with the same coach since 1991 and heartrate is the main focus of many workouts. I train by time, not miles (i.e. run an hour instead of x number of miles). I usually do one longer run on the weekend and either a track or harder effort during the week. I occasionally ride a bike for cross training. I find that now that I am 56, I need more recovery time/easy days. |
Quote | “I run because of the pure joy of doing something I love, seeing hard work pay off and making friends with others who share a similar passion.” |
Running Achievements | Ran in 1996 Olympic Trials Marathon -- 2nd master & 3rd Californian at age 41. 1995 USATF 40-44 Master of the Year, Ranked by Running Times and Runners World in 1995, 1996 & 1997. Set Masters Half Marathon American Record (1:13:54) which lasted until a few years ago. PR Marathon was 100th Boston (2:44:36) & was 1st US master. Other PRs were also set after turning 40 -- 10K 35:49, 5K 17:06, 10 M 57:50 |

Just ran a 10K last weekend in Livermore . Unfortunately, I made a mistake and got off course. Had to make u-turn and head back to the correct path which cost me a little time... This race also has a 1/2 marathon and 5K. It is an out and back along a paved path and the 10K runners have to navigate thru a "sea" of 5K runners going both directions on the path -- sometimes a daunting task. Great weather that day!
