The Kansas Heart & Sole Classic is a fun-filled event for all ages and includes a 5K Run/Walk, 10K Run, Tot Trot and Fun Run. The event benefits Special Olympics Kansas, a year-round program of sports training, education, and athletic competition for children and adults with intellectual disabilities.
Race starts and finishes at the Johnson County Square in historic downtown Olathe. The relatively flat 3.1 mile course winds through established neighborhoods with many tree-lined streets. 10K participants are encouraged by cheering from the spectators as they reach the 5K mark and start the second lap of the course. The Kansas Heart & Sole Classic 10K is part of the Mid-America Running Association's Grand Prix Circuit, and it is a certified course (#KS14002LJ).

Notes: I have run this race several times and found it to be a fun, well-organized and economical event. This 10K is a MARA Grand Prix event, however most runners still opted for the 5K which was not a Grand Prix event. Lots of school kids did the 5K.
