Comments | Sharon Vos and Christine Kennedy are my sheroes. Welcome to the new age group this year, ladies! I'll be admiring you both from behind at Boston. Hope to meet you both someday. |
Fitness Statement | A tomboy, I've been running in sports (softball, tennis) all my life. My first race was a 5 miler in Northampton, MA about 15 yers ago. After breast cancer, I started running marathons, in 2003. Since then, I've run 138 marathons, including Boston 8 times. I run a lot because I love to run. My fitness rutine is some push-ups, sit-ups, a few stretches and running as much as I can. I run with a group, the "Speedsters," because it's fun and because they make me a better runner, even when we're having fun. |
Quote | “Paraphrasing Rumi: "Keep running, though there's no place to get to. Don't try to see through distances. That's not for human beings. Move within, but don't move the way fear makes you move."” |
Running Achievements | I'm Marathon Maniac #130 and reached titanium level. Have also run a sub 4 hour marathon in all 50 states.
I've finished as first woman in a few small marathons, most recently in the Southernmost Marathon in Key West 2014. Second in AG at Boston 2014. marathonguide.com named me an outstanding woman marathoner in 2005. Ran a half a few days ago (St. Pete Halloween Halfathon) in 1:36:03. |

Just happy to be running again after hobbling around on crutches and then an ankle brace.
Injuries help you set your priorities straight, don't they? (p.s., also happy to be running on dry ground and not ice/snow.)
LAst night, bridge repeats witth Speedsters. Taking out warm up and cool down, 7:30 pace for mile repeats.
Taper week, easy 9:27 pace at Lakes park, enjoying the am sun.
