Notes: I have run it six times previously, beginning in 1969--this seventh one was one of the tough ones. It started out a little warm for the first ten miles but, as usual, felt easy to run with the many downhill stretches. After about eleven miles, we were treated to a nice cool headwind for much of the rest of the way, but the damage done to my quads would keep me busy fighting cramps the rest of the way. Tried to 'minimize the fade' as much as possible. The immense enthusiastic crowds made it memorable once again.
