Notes: I have run the marathon here 20 times and the half a few other times--great atmosphere, moderately challenging but scenic course. It was a little warm (60s) for today's half, but stiff breeze and solid cloud cover kept it pretty nice. New course configuration created a long downhill finish which was lots of fun and made my mile 13 the fastest at 7:20.

run "In addition, the revised courses this year has created a long (.8 mile) downhill to the finish which is a delight and if you have saved anything back and can keep from falling you will have a great finish!"

run "This was a fantastic event, offering a marathon, half, 10K, and 5K, with new sponsorship from Garmin and revised courses showcasing some of the best parts of the city. Over 9000 participants and many hundreds of volunteers created lots of excitement. Several bands played along the course. Temps in 60s were slightly above average, but a fairly stiff breeze and full cloud cover kept it comfortable. I have run the marathon 20 times, the 5K once, and the half 3 times now (566.4 miles total) and this event has now moved into the top tier of events nationwide and should be on your list to experience soon. Runners wanting to double up over the weekend can run Kansas City on Saturday, then a 3 hour drive to Des Moines to run on Sunday."
