On January 14, 2012, for the first time ever, USA Track & Field and the Houston Marathon Committee will host the men’s and women’s Olympic Trials Marathon on the same day, at the same site. This historic event will determine the three men and three women who will represent the United States in the marathon at the 2012 Olympic Games in London and will give the sport’s fans and media unprecedented access to one of the most prestigious marathons on the U.S. calendar.

run "In 1968 the Trials were held in Alamosa. Anyone could run the race back then but this was pre running boom so only 129 showed up. 60 finished. Sun August 18, 1968 Alamosa, CO Starters: 129 Finishers: 60 The first Olympic Team Trials were open to anyone who wanted to attend and the race was held at altitude in Alamosa, CO to attempt to simulate the altitude and course that might be found at the Mexico City Olympics.
