"My best track seasons were when I focused on the track. I don't see that singleness of purpose in your approach. My best mile came at the tail end of 6 one mile races run week after week at all comers meets. As long as you run various distances you risk not running your best. You're running and racing well but your mile could be better. "
Richard Stiller 6/8/14 1:32 pm "My guess Peter is that there are a lot of guys in our age group around the world that just run track. Specialize in the mile and 1500 meters. Don't run all the other distances we do. So that would lead me to believe that the age grading would be tougher. These guys probably couldn't stay with us in a half marathon!!"
Bill Dunn 6/7/14 11:15 am "Bob, many thanks for fixing this! .. which leads me to some thoughts on age grading, road vs track. I run rather consistently, with similar commitment and against similar quality competition on road and track, but consistently have better PRs on road than track, 1-2% better in fact. Yet age grading tables suggest the opposite, ie track should be about 2% faster than road (for my age at least). The only rationale I can come up with is that all my track is in summer, at about 20 degrees higher temperature (which would make about 10 secs/mile difference according to standard tables). Thoughts, anyone?"
Peter Mullin 6/7/14 11:08 am "The correct age-graded for 1500m is 87.04%. It is fixed now."
Bob Anderson 6/6/14 11:00 pm "The age grading can't be right on this performance. It's got to be much higher."
Richard Stiller 6/6/14 5:57 pm "Age grade is wrong on this one! Grateful it is fixed."
