Killer hill run, how did we average 4:30/km? Well, there was some downhill mixed in there.

Good run today, 64 degrees and got some rain for the last 2 miles. Felt extremely good afterwards. Looking forward to taper week, some hill sprints and short fast 2-3 mile runs. Oregon Fall Half Marathon coming up on Sept. 12.

Easy run on the indoor track - relaxing when I get tired is working, concentrate on posture and balanced rotation, minimal energy burn.

Really in a hurry today, I wonder why? Every time I start out intending to run easy, things change. It reminds me of my 2 older brothers are always chasing me, everything was a contest back then - great fun!

runnerEveryone should read Matt Fitzgerald's new book: '80/20 Running: Slow Down to Get Faster'. I picked up a copy here last week during his talk about it; interesting concept, eh?

runnerJoe Henderson wrote about a similar philosophy back in the late 1960's. More like 90/10 but still very much the same. The book is called Long Slow Distance. It's online for free. www.joehenderson.com/longslowdistance/

runnerI'm bummed, a bad cold has put me out of my half marathon tomorrow.

runnerI know you are bummed, but it would not be good to race with a bad cold. Get well first...in the long run you will be glad you didn't race. But I know it is hard not too.
